Village One in Print!
Tomorrow we begin submitting our press releases to newspapers around the globe. We are starting with California, Sacramento first.
Are we excited? Indubitably.
Are we nervous? Definitely not.
-Perfect love casts out all fear. We want more of what we have built, for more, in more areas of the world.
Moving forward, into the the next chapter… But before we do that, do you remember why we started this project in the first place???
Christmas in Kibera led to Kitchen in Kibera, both as missions to bridge the gap between famine and fruit.
We all have fruit to share. There is much fruit between us.
Fruit of Life.
With your support, we continue to grow. We continue to share the Fruit of Life. One Life. One Love.
-One Village. Our Village. Village One.

This information was “shared” with us this morning…Lots of wisdom on the other side…
To be wise, is to be silent
To be silent, you’ll observe
By observing, you’ll see
Be seeing, you’ll learn
be learning, you will gain knowledge
by gaining knowledge, you will be wise
Therefore be silent and be wise!
Take moments today to observe and learn, do not react or participate but observe, acknowledge the information, internalize and go your way. Masters are silent, for wisdom lays within them. They do not go out and shout what they know, they take a step back and remain silent, for they know!

^Hayón of OccupyLove Worldwide with a child in Kibera.^
Hayón is also coordinating our next trip to… Are you ready?
HAITI!
We want to build wells. Why? Well, WHY NOT?! For the Waterrrr. Water is the most essential resource in life. Did you know that 60% of our body weight is made of water? Let’s do some math on this. Take your body weight and divide it by 60% (or multiply by .60) and what you have left is your life without water which equals ZERO because without water, CLEAN water, the other 40% of us cannot live.
Did you know that the percentage of households in Haiti with water supply is just 52% in urban cities and rural areas have only 26% of water supply available while the population with access to improved water supply totaled 52% on average BEFORE the 2010 earthquake?
This means that 16% of children under 5 die of waterborne illnesses in Haiti.
Alas, we want to go to Haiti. We want Haitians, and their visitors (though there are very few tourists there) to have clean water. They need wells built for clean water.
We can do this. As a village.
Details have are being discussed now. Remain locked in, family. WE’RE TAKING THIS VILLAGE TO HAITI! ㋡
Are you with us?! -YEAH!
One Village. Our Village. Village One.

This is how villages are built:::
“My Bodyguard in the Kibera Slums”—- For any of you that have ever wanted to do a job, oftentimes (especially in this economy) volunteering is the best way to get your foot in the door… Check out how young Alvin Amonté won our hearts by volunteering to be Cedric’s personal bodyguard and KEPT his job with persistence and good old-fashioned hard work! :)
-Even with Kevin Costner, Whitney wished she could be so lucky. :P
Villagers share. So… Forward your hearts out! Help build Alvin Amonté’s village with men like him. ツ

The Block Party Began…
But not until the first meal in the cafeteria. Read about Cedric’s experience as the building was painted, children were fed, teeth were brushed and the music (MUSIC! -Performances by FosRock, Hayón and many talented children) rocked Kibera in A Day to Remember (<—click the link, view the photos and read the blurb at the bottom)!Thank you to Crest and Oral B for donating toothbrushes and toothpaste!!!

Wow!
Flooring has been laid in this beautiful manifestation of a dream and our time in Kibera is nearing a close. There will be a Block Party today from 1-4 pm (which means that it’s probably shutting down now based on Pacific Standard Time) celebrating Village One’s stellar accomplishment (this incredible structure!!!) with HuMissions and OccupyLove.

Mission Exceeded
Three years ago a promise was made. Cedric Singleton promised to return to Kibera, the second largest slum in Africa, to build a kitchen that would feed 150 children one meal per day.
Upon arrival to Kibera this May, there was a $5,600 budget to build a single kitchen. The sum total of $5,600 translates to 450,000 shillings. Within the nine days that Village One, HuMissions and OccupyLove have been in Kibera we constructed a two-story building that holds a cafeteria, dorm, AND classroom. All of this is in addition to the initial kitchen endeavor!
Can’t believe it?! It’s true. -In fact, they thought the building would only be one story at 10 feet by 20 feet. The complete building is a two-story 16’x40’ structure made of aluminum and wood. The classroom is upstairs, with a cafeteria downstairs, and a storage facility above the kitchen.

At last contact, Cedric said, “It rained really hard for about ten minutes, but we’re waiting for supplies to hopefully finish the job today.” Wow! -It was 5 p.m. in Kibera, at the time.
There will be another update soon. For now, view photos from the last nine days:::

If you haven’t already, ‘Like’ the page so that you are informed of our next mission::: “Well in Malawi.” ;)
Thanks to donations made from around the world, Kitchen in Kibera has been a TOTAL success!!!
It doesn’t take much to make a difference. We thank you so much for supporting our humble village. Just as there is no ‘I’ in Team, there is only one world, One Village. Village One.
In the Deepest of Gratitude,
Village One

It started as a meeting between three men…
It continues, TODAY, in Kibera, as a mission to bridge the gap between famine and fruit.
Gratefully, we have been joined by Hayon, musician and founder of OccupyLove, and rock star Fos Rock. We all have fruit to share. There is much fruit between us.
Fruit of Life.
With your support, we continue to grow. We continue to share the Fruit of Life. One Life. One Love.
